My name is Nikki Downer. As a lifelong professional in the travel and tourism industry, I have split my time between my native UK and Florida, first moving to this area in 2004. I’m thrilled to be a part of this inaugural event benefiting Give Kids The World Village. When it’s done, I’ll have a fantastic story to tell — 32 stories, to be exact.
On February 9, I’ll be rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. With other fundraisers, I’ll descend 428 feet straight down to help make dreams come true for critically ill kids.
It seems crazy, but it’s nothing compared to what the kids at Give Kids The World Village face. Their lives are dominated by hospital stays and medical procedures. They miss out on school activities, sports, and time with friends.
Give Kids The World helps them reclaim that time.
It’s a home-away-from-home for wish children visiting Orlando’s world-famous attractions. Children and their families stay at the nonprofit, 84-acre, storybook resort and are treated to weeklong, dream vacations. No child is turned away, and no family ever pays a dime. Last year, Give Kids The World hosted nearly 8,000 families!
The Village matters to me because it creates happiness and hope for children and families who need it most. I can’t think of a better reason to go Over The Edge.
But I need your help. To make a tax-deductible donation, click the big green "Donate Now" button. I am participating along with my co-workers, Ian Pardoe, Sam Longster, and Dawn Sabato as "Team Contempo". Any questions, just ask me.
Thank you from me and the kids you’re going to help!
