On February 8, 2019, I’ll be rappelling 428 feet (32 storeys) down the side of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Orlando to help make dreams come true for seriously-ill children and their families.
Yes, this is the same place, same height and same Give Kids The World fundraiser as last February and yes, I am still afraid of heights but, you see, I had help the first time! Of all the incredible young people I have met over the past six winters of volunteering, I chose to write the names of Eric, Mackenzie, Jordan, Jacob and Sophia on my arm. When I did not have the courage to start down the wall, I had to dig very, very deep and I was heard to chant Jacob's name as I began the descent. These precious young people would deem it easy to go Over The Edge rather than to face the many challenges of their daily lives. Once again I will draw on the example of their bravery and the same names will be on my arm.
Give Kids The World is the place where happiness inspires hope. For one magical week, these wish children and their siblings are able to be just kids. It remains My Happy Place and is a true blessing in my life.
Last year, I almost reached my goal of $2,400 and I believe with your help, we can reach or exceed a goal of $3,500 this time. To make a tax deductable donation, simply click the "donate" button. Any questions, just ask me! I'm still a Village Ambassador and love to share my love of our mission. To learn more about this amazing Village, go to www.gktw.org.
