I’m thrilled to be a part of this inaugural event benefiting Give Kids The World Village. When it’s done, I’ll have a fantastic story to tell — 32 stories, to be exact.
On February 9, I’ll be rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Orlando. With other fundraisers, I’ll descend 428 feet straight down to help make dreams come true for critically-ill children.
It seems crazy, but it’s nothing compared to what the children at Give Kids The World Village face. Their lives are dominated by hospital stays and medical procedures; they miss out on school activities, sports, and time with friends. Give Kids The World helps them reclaim that time.
It’s a home-away-from-home for wish children visiting Orlando’s world-famous attractions. Children and their families stay at the nonprofit, 84-acre, storybook resort and are treated to weeklong, dream vacations. No child is turned away, and no family ever pays a dime. Last year, Give Kids The World hosted nearly 8,000 families!
Since 2012, I have volunteered as many times a week as I can during the winter, mainly in the Character programme and Guest Services. I'm a Village Ambassador and will talk about GKTW as long as you'll let me! It is truly My Happy Place.
The Village matters to me because it creates happiness and hope for children and families who need it most...children such as Eric and Christian and Mackenzie and Jordan and Raphael and so many others. I can’t think of a better reason to go Over The Edge.
I need your help. To make a tax-deductible donation, click the big green "Donate Now" button. No donation is too small! This is your chance to send YOUR mother or grandmother literally over the edge! I'll do it for them - for the children.
Questions? Please ask me! (Yes, I am terrified of heights. No, I probably would not do this for any other cause)
Thank you from me and the families you’re going to help!
