I’m thrilled to be part of this inaugural event benefiting Give Kids The World Village. When it’s done, I’ll have a fantastic story to tell — actually 32 stories, to be exact.
On February 9, 2018 I’ll be taking my 58 year old body rappelling down the side of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Florida. I’ll descend 428 feet straight down to help make dreams come true for critically ill kids.
It may seem crazy, but it’s nothing compared to what the kids at Give Kids The World Village face. Their lives are dominated by hospital stays and medical procedures day in and day out. They miss out on school activities, sports, and time with friends.
Give Kids The World helps them reclaim that time.
It’s a home-away-from-home designed to fulfill children's "wishes" visiting Orlando’s world-famous attractions. Children and their families stay at the nonprofit, 84-acre, storybook resort and are treated to weeklong, dream vacations. No child is turned away, and no family ever pays a dime. Last year, Give Kids The World hosted nearly 8,000 families!
The Village matters to me because it creates happiness and hope for children and families who need it most. I can’t think of a better reason to go "Over The Edge."
