Rob and I were set to run the #wdw49 on July 20. It is a challenge in which a team rides all moving operational rides at all four Disney parks in one day. We previously completed the #wdw46 challenge on May 9, 2015 and were excited to attempt this new challenge as Disney added three rides to the parks. Since Disney extended the refurbishment of the Liberty Square Riverboat and it will be closed during this time, all teams set to race in July and August were classified as auto fail since the ride would not be in service. Well, we love Disney and still wanted to race so we set up our own #kingdomexpedition34 challenge to ride all of the rides at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom within 14 hours (we will stand in place for the riverboat for 20 minutes).
Since so many teams were affected, generous benefactors have agreed to help create a new FUNdraising effort for Give Kids the World that will be known as #GiveKidstheRides. We will attempt to ride the 34 rides, plus as many rides we can at a Hollywood Studios between 10:30pm and 12:30am. The benefactors will offer donations of 48 cents for every ride accomplished and a $100 donation if a team can complete the challenge
Here is some info about this amazing organization that hits my heart. You know our feelings about Disney, about family, and making the most of time together.
When a child is diagnosed with a critical illness, a family’s world turns upside down. Schedules become dominated by hospital visits and medical treatments. Free time slips away. But Give Kids The World Village gives some of that time back.
Visiting families stay in storybook villas, play in Orlando’s world-famous theme parks, enjoy delicious meals and celebrate nightly events at the Village. For one amazing week, families simply laugh, play, and spend time together – and it doesn’t cost them a thing.
Give Kids The World’s mission is very special to me, so I’m raising money to support the Village. With your help, Give Kids The World can remain a magical place where families can stay during their once-in-a-lifetime trip.
Please help us reach our goal, and make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.
